Daguerreotypes and Experimental Work
by Jonathan Danforth

Please ask to view the original when you visit the gallery

These pieces are both experimental early works and the first pieces of a series exploring the temporal attributes of technology and humanity's message to future generations.
The daguerreotype medium aids in the presentation of something fleeting as something concrete. The daguerreotype acts as a powerful reminder to the viewer because of its longevity that the image-object exists for all time and that the owner is a temporary custodian.
